As Jim and Huck float downriver, Jim searches the riverbank for the town of Cairo. Each time Jim mentions how soon he will be free, Huck feels increasingly guilty. Huck knows that helping Jim escape is breaking the law, but Jim is also his friend. Huck is having trouble deciding. After a great deal of reasoning, Huck realizes he will feel possibly even worse if he turned Jim into the authorities, and decides it would be best to let him escape. They float past the town of Cairo and keep heading south on the river.

Huck Finn 4-7

His dad takes him into this old cabin built where no one could find them. Hucks father treats him very baddly and one night he dreams and attempts to kill Huck. He is always left locked in the cabin so he gets to thinking that behind the blanket on the wall he could use the saw that he found to cut a hole big enough for him to get out. When he finally gets out he makes it look like someone broke in, robbed the place and killed huck. He makes it look this way by killing a wild hog and spreading the blood all over the cabin.

Huck Finn 1-4

The story starts out with huck living with the Widow Douglas and Miss Watson. Widow Douglas is his legal guardian and Miss Watson comes to visit. The two ladies were trying to turn huck into a proper child but huck doesnt want to. This didnt last to long because huck would always disagree with them because he was used to living on his own. His father found out where he was at and he kidnapped him.

iN CHAPTER 11 HUCK DRESSES AS A GRL AND GOES TO TOWN TO FIGURE OUT THE WORD ON THE STREETS AND HE STOPS AT AN OLD LADIES HOUSE. SHE FIGURES OUT HE IS A BOY AND DOESNT CARE AND LETS HIM GO.

Chapter 10

In chapter 10 Huck kills a rattlesnake and puts it in jims sleeping gear and its mate comes and bites jim.

Chapter 9

In chapter nine they find many things. they find a house with a dead man in it and they steal his things.

Chapter 8

In chapter eight many interesting things happen. First Huck sees and hears the fairy boat shooting canons trying to find his corpse. Next he realizes they will be sending bread down the shore to find him, therefore he finds food. After a while he comes across another campfire and he sees some one is on the island. It is Jim, Mrs. Watsons slave so they talk and eat together and learn each others stories. That is pretty much all that happens in Chapter eight.

Alas Babylon

Alas Babylon was an exciting book once you get past the fifth chapter. I enjoyed the book very much and hope to read more by this author. My favorite part of this book is the survival methods and problem solving used to survive during this time of war and confusion.
